Games with Jack

I ask you to shuffle,
and you respond that
everyone does it but
it’s a waste of time.

Later, you ask me if I
have a new idea to
solve the puzzle
we are working on.

I am glad to take your
many suggestions into
consideration despite
their often poor quality.

As we play Battleship,
you inform me of how
hopeless my fleet would be
were you not going easy.

You are eager to play
the apple game but then
enlist me to play all your
cards on your behalf.

Soon enough, you tire of
playing the new game I
brought. It’s not that you
don’t like it; it’s just boring.

Departing, my mind
starts its own new game.
Seven now, who will you
be when I see you next?
