Cherry Blossoms

We have traveled thousands
of miles to come here today.
Our family had always heard
about how beautiful these trees
are around this time, but they are
truly magnificent firsthand.
It’s only once a year the Basin
wears her best pink dress,
and our timing today is perfect.
When you venture down here
to the stone walk, it’s almost like
you’re sailing on the water,
blooms in every direction.
The kids are even behaving
themselves somehow.
You know, this would make a
great photo for their grandparents.

If only we could get all these
damn people out of the way.
What makes them think they can
just waltz through the frame?
